What is a Credit Union?Credit Unions are not-for-profit organizations that have been in existence for well over 100 years. Profits go directly to the members in the form of higher savings rates, lower loan rates, minimal fees and exceptional service. Credit Unions serve groups that share something in common, such as where a member may live, work or worship. A credit union is a federally insured financial institution owned and controlled by its members. As a member/owner, you can help direct policies by electing the volunteer officials from among your fellow members. Any member over the age of 18, may run for a seat on the Board of Directors, or serve on a committee. Credit Unions make a difference in their members' life and in the communities they serve.
