Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about moving money into and out of your USALLIANCE accounts — mobile deposit, external transfers, wires, P2P apps, and more.
Transfer money INTO USALLIANCE
Mobile check deposit is only available within the Digital Banking mobile app (opens in new tab). If you're on a desktop browser, log into the mobile app before following these steps:
- Tap "Deposit" in the bottom navigation menu.
- Select "Check Deposit".
- Choose the account you wish to deposit funds into from the dropdown.
- Confirm the check is endorsed to you and that the written amount matches the numerical amount.
- Endorse the back of the check: sign your name, then print "for mobile deposit only at USALLIANCE."
- Place the check on a flat, evenly lit, solid-colored surface.
- Tap "Take Photos" for the front of the check (face-up). Hold the camera steady until the green edge detectors appear.
- Repeat for the back of the check (face-down), confirming your endorsement is visible.
- Confirm the populated amount is correct.
- Review any image errors or warnings and retake photos if needed.
- Tap "Submit."
New USALLIANCE members have two easy options:
- Use our Account Funding portal (opens in new tab): quickly and securely make free deposits into your certificate, savings, or checking accounts. Visit the portal for full details, since funding rules vary slightly by account type.
- Transfer from your outside bank: log into your external bank account, add your USALLIANCE account as an external account, and initiate the transfer from there.
Note: If you've been a USALLIANCE member for more than 30 days, we recommend linking an external account and transferring funds directly within Digital Banking (opens in new tab).
You're eligible for external account transfers once you've been a member for 30+ days, have a minimum of $2,500 on deposit, and have no outstanding loan delinquencies. Once eligible, you can add an external account within Digital Banking (opens in new tab):
Mobile: Menu → Transfer → External Accounts → Add Account → choose Instant or Manual Verification → enter account info → complete.
Desktop: Make a Transfer → Add External Accounts → choose Instant or Manual Verification → enter account info → complete.
Note: If you don't yet meet this criteria, you can initiate the transfer from your outside bank account instead.
You can send or receive wire transfers with your USALLIANCE accounts. These near-instant transfers typically carry a fee — check the fee schedule (opens in new tab) for details.
To send money into your USALLIANCE account, you must initiate the wire from your other financial institution. To send money out of your USALLIANCE account, you can initiate the wire yourself within Digital Banking (opens in new tab):
Mobile: Menu → More → Send Wires → One-Time → fill out fields → submit.
Desktop: Three-dot menu (top nav) → Send Wires → One-Time → fill out fields → submit.
Note: Domestic wires cut off at 3:00 PM EST, with a $250,000 maximum.

Shared Branching lets members of participating credit unions access their accounts at thousands of locations nationwide — great for deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and loan payments while traveling or living far from a home branch. Use our Branch & ATM search (opens in new tab) page and filter for "CO-OP Shared Branch" to find one near you.
Note: New members can't use Shared Branching during their first 30 days of membership.
You can deposit cash at participating local retail stores using Add Cash, available through the mobile app for MyLife Checking (opens in new tab) accounts. There's a $3 deposit fee, with a $5 minimum and $999 maximum per transaction. Barcodes expire in 15 minutes, so don't generate one until you're ready to use it.
How to use Add Cash in Digital Banking (opens in new tab) on your mobile device:
- Tap "Deposit" in the bottom navigation bar.
- Tap "Add Cash."
- Accept the terms and conditions.
- Confirm your desired checking account is selected.
- Tap "See locations near me" to find a participating retail store.
- At the store, tap "Generate a barcode."
- Present the barcode to the cashier along with your cash.
Tip: Make sure to refresh the Digital Banking app to see your deposit reflected.

New Member Account Funding
If you're a brand new member, use the Account Funding site (opens in new tab). It lets you fund your account before you may even have full Digital Banking access set up. If you've been a member for more than 30 days, we recommend linking an external account and transferring funds within Digital Banking (opens in new tab) instead.
The Account Funding site is a secure portal that lets new members add funds to a certificate, savings, or checking account directly from an external bank account — in just a few minutes, with no Digital Banking (opens in new tab) login required.
A few key details:
- There are no fees associated with this account funding process.
- Deposits can take up to 5 business days to post.
- Transactions made after 4:00 PM EST will be processed the following business day.
- If your deposit amount is over $250,000, contact Member Services at (800) 431-2754.
You'll need to provide your first name, last name, Social Security number, and zip code to verify your identity before funding your account(s).
You can fund multiple accounts in one session. After you successfully fund your first account, you'll see a confirmation page with the option to start funding another account right away.
You can fund a Certificate Account (opens in new tab) through this site if it currently has a $0.00 balance, using a one-time opening deposit from an external account.
A few things to know:
- Your certificate's maturity date is based on when the account was opened, but dividends won't start accruing until your funds actually post.
- If the account isn't funded within 7 days of opening, it will be closed.
MyLife Savings (opens in new tab) and High Dividend Savings (opens in new tab) accounts can be funded through the Account Funding site.
MyLife Savings for Kids (opens in new tab) accounts cannot. To fund a MyLife Savings for Kids account, you can: visit a branch, mobile deposit via Digital Banking (opens in new tab), or contact Member Services at (800) 431-2754.
New members can make a one-time deposit, up to $1,000, into a MyLife Checking (opens in new tab) or SMA Checking account through this site, within their first 30 days of membership. This limit may be adjusted at any time.
MyLife Checking for Teens (opens in new tab) and Money Market (opens in new tab) accounts cannot be funded through this site. To fund these accounts, you can: visit a branch, mobile deposit via Digital Banking (opens in new tab), or contact Member Services at (800) 431-2754.
Yes. Once you've completed funding through the Account Funding site, download the USALLIANCE Digital Banking (opens in new tab) app to manage your accounts going forward. The Account Funding site is only intended for brand new members' initial deposit(s); Digital Banking is where you'll do everything else, like checking balances, transferring funds, depositing checks, and more.
